Dear Diary,

I spent a super few hours at Hay-on-Wye Primary this afternoon, just a short drive from Clyro Primary (where I spent an equally wonderful morning).

With the school production rehearsals in full swing in the hall, my assembly and the hour-long workshop that was to follow had to be relocated elsewhere. So, after a quick rearrange of the furniture in the library, it was decided that both the assembly and workshop would take place in there.

And with 125+ pupils (all the year groups that weren’t rehearsing or out on trips) in a fairly small space, it was certainly a LOUD affair. But despite the sheer heat of the day (and the fact that it was a tight squeeze), the pupils at this school were a wonderful audience during my assembly, and they really threw themselves into the activities I had planned for the workshop. It was tricky trying to work my way around as many of them as I could, given the short amount of time I had and the sheer number of students in close proximity. But I did manage to engage with as many as possible, and I was able to snap a few photos of some of the fantastic work they produced:

The pupils at this school were super imaginative and great fun to spend the afternoon with; the teachers were a great help in handling the large numbers and awarding certificates here, there, and everywhere; and Renn and Theo couldn’t have been more helpful at the end of the day when it came to setting up my book stall!
