Dear Diary,
During my event at Birchfield Library today, I had the pleasure of meeting Keyaan and Parisa. At just nine years old, Keyaan already has two published children’s books under his belt… and plans to publish many more. Both of his books feature covers illustrated by his older sister, Parisa – who has also published her own colouring/doodle book – and these talented siblings very kindly presented me with signed copies of all three books, which I’ll treasure.
When COVID-19 hit, Keyaan (aged 4) and Parisa (aged 8) had fun discovering new hobbies. During the first lockdown, their mum introduced them to arts and crafts and creative writing, and a passion was born in each of them – Parisa discovered a love of drawing, and Keyaan stopped thinking of writing as a chore and found it could take him into an amazing world of fantasy where he was in the driving seat!
It always warms my heart when children tap into their creativity, and I have no doubt we’ll be seeing a lot more from both Keyaan and Parisa in the years to come.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Keyaan’s stories entitled Super Lily and Super Speedy. Keyaan has such a fantastic imagination, and I hear he’s currently working on a superhero comedy, which I can’t wait to read! I hope to find the time to put up a post about Keyaan’s brilliant books under the Readers’ Writing tab soon.
And I’m sure I’ll be using Parisa’s lovely colouring book soon, too, as a way to wind down in between future events.
