Dear Diary,
I had another great day at Berkhampstead School when I returned there today. The pupils were once again a brilliant audience during my assembly, joining in wholeheartedly with questions and answers then listening attentively whilst I read a couple of chapters from WARNING: May Contain Dragons. They came up with some super written work of their own during my workshops that followed throughout the rest of the day, and they were quick workers, too… especially Year 6! It was wonderful to witness so many pupils working together on collaborations, and then performing their raps or reading their poems and stories aloud together. And I’m so proud of those who were shy about reading aloud in front of their peers but then bit the bullet and did it anyway. One thing I really love about Berky is how involved the teachers (as well as the students) are during my sessions. And with so many creative masterpieces being dreamt up and scribbled down on paper all around the hall from the start of the day until the very end, I had to really rely on the teachers’ help to decide who to award certificates and my dragon prize to. I just wish I’d had enough certificates for everyone to get one!
