Dear Diary,
My visit to Christ Church Primary today was INSANE! After a two-hour drive, I hosted an assembly followed by five back-to-back workshops… then after lunch, I managed to fit in four more back-to-back workshops before heading home! I’ve squeezed seven workshops into one day before, but this is the first time I’ve ever squeezed in nine!!! Yet despite feeling absolutely shattered when I made it in through my front door this evening, I was buzzing! The pupils at Christ Church Primary are so creative, and they had some brilliant ideas when it came to my writing activities. But of all the work produced, I think my favourite piece was Arnold’s story entitled A Dragon Just Ate My Grandma:
I can’t believe it. My grandma just got eaten by an enormous dragon. How awful! How am I going to get pocket money? I must get that dragon and pull Grandma out. That’s what I can do. So, where do I start? I’ll need a mighty sword. Wait, I don’t know how to fence. I’ll have to take fencing classes…
After a year of fencing, I was ready to get my grandma back. But first, I needed armour. That’s it! I’ll buy a knight’s suit of armour. When I got a suit of armour, I was ready. That’s when the quest started. When I got to the dragon, I stabbed it on the chest, then the butt, then I cut off its arms and legs. When it was dead, I pulled my grandma out. ‘You saved me!’ she said. ‘Pocket money for you!’
I had a super day at Christ Church Primary and look forward to returning next year with WARNING: Grandma’s Gone Bonkers… but maybe with a slightly less intense timetable next time around!
