Lakeside Primary

Tuesday June 11th 2024

Dear Diary,

What a magical day! This morning, it was just a short walk around the corner from home to Lakeside Primary – the school my son and daughter used to attend!!! I found the nerves really kicked in, given my special memories of this school. But they soon abated once I saw how receptive all the pupils were. Some of the stories that the children dreamt up absolutely blew me away today. There’s no doubt I met an awful lot of future authors at Lakeside. And I really hope that those who dream of getting their own books published end up seeing their books in bookshops one day. It’s an unbeatable feeling. The audience reaction to me reading from my book was possibly my favourite out of all the visits I’ve done recently. It was hard for me not to giggle along myself whilst reading aloud! The pupils were beautifully behaved, got so involved, and made me feel totally at home for the duration of my visit. Fingers crossed they’ll get in touch to show me their writing and ask me any questions they didn’t get the chance to ask earlier. And I’m sure I’ll be seeing many of them at my Regent Arcade event on July 13th.
