Dear Diary,
Leonard Stanely is not just any primary school… it’s an author’s dream! When I arrived there on Tuesday 23rd September, I was once again met and welcomed as I pulled into the car park. Upon entering the hall, I found six copies of WARNING: May Contain Dragons waiting to be signed (the school had kindly ordered a copy for each year group, just like they did for WARNING: Magic Can Be Dangerous!). And news about my visit had clearly been sent out to parents and carers via the school newsletter, as there was a queue of pupils with money in envelopes eager to purchase a book at lunchtime… followed by a second queue at the end of the day! What’s more, whilst I launched into my assembly then the workshops, there was already work going on in the corridors in readiness for a display about my visit to be put up once I’d gone. The staff (especially Mrs Bullingham) really do everything they can to promote an author visit and help out on the day, which means the world to me. And as for the pupils themselves… well, they couldn’t be more enthusiastic about having an author in their midst! They blew me away again with their creativity throughout the workshops, making it very hard for me to decide who to award my dragon prize to at the end of the day!!! I had incredible time revisiting Leonard Stanley and can’t wait to return next year with WARNING: Grandma’s Gone Bonkers.
