Dear Diary,
My third and final visit today was to Williton Library. This lovely library has recently located to across the road from where it used to be. But despite it being full of books, it was sadly empty of patrons whilst I was there. In fact, this visit turned out to be my quietest to date… with only one attendee! Not that it mattered, as Etty and I certainly made the most of the one-on-one time we had together!!!
I always love it when children OPT to do some writing rather than drawing or colouring. And that’s exactly what Etty decided to do to start with. She came up with a super story entitled My Teacher Is a Dragon (not based on any of her OWN teachers, I hasten to add). Next, she designed a colourful book cover for her story. Then she added a blurb, the opening sentence, and an excerpt:
Blurb: Does YOUR teacher breathe fire? Mine does!
Opening sentence: When I went to school on Monday, my teacher had horns. Then she set the school on fire.
Excerpt: Can Etty save the day?!
Etty stayed for over an hour, and it was a real treat to chat with her about bookish things and see her really going to town on my activities. My time with her flew by, and I was sad to see her leave. It was such a shame that her older sister had felt too poorly to come along and join in with the activities whilst I was there. Hopefully, Etty, her older sister, and her younger brother will ALL get to enjoy the signed copies of WARNING: Magic Can Be Dangerous! and WARNING: May Contain Dragons that their mum purchased for them. And I hope Etty will continue to tap into her incredible imagination and write many more stories in the future.
